Oil Quality Standard Analysis

This analysis aims to see the quality and performance of transformer oil. From the results of the analysis, it can be recommended what actions to take for transformer maintenance, including determining the filtration/reclamation time of transformer oil. The analysis carried out includes the following:

  • Water Content: Water in transformer oil can come from external sources such as air humidity and free water or from internal sources where water is produced from insulating paper. The presence of water dissolved in oil can affect the breakdown voltage of the oil (water content is inversely proportional to breakdown voltage) and accelerate damage to the insulating paper.
  • Breakdown Voltage: This analysis determines the ability of oil to withstand electrical voltage. The presence of dissolved substances and solid particles in oil in large quantities will reduce the breakdown voltage in oil.
  • Total Acid Content: This analysis determines the concentration of acid constituents or contaminants contained in the transformer oil. When combined with other tests, the results of the analysis can be used to determine when the transformer oil should be reclaimed or replaced.
  • Surface Tension: the results of this analysis can indicate the level of oxidation and deterioration of the oil condition as well as the possibility of sludge in the oil.

Electricity is a major part of human survival. As we know, almost all areas on earth need this energy to drive the wheels of life. Even in matters of a country’s sovereignty, the role of electricity is highly prioritized, even used as a benchmark for the success of the country. And actually, it is not excessive that this happens, because the fact is that electricity is very much needed in every element of life.
